Fredericton Homeless shelters
St. John House
St. John House (the Men’s Shelter) was established in 1983 as a space for men who are experiencing homelessness to be able to have shelter and was the first shelter in this organization. St. John House is home to 25 men and provides support and a safe space for men to stay while they transition into permanent housing. St. John House, located in front of The Community Kitchen and within walking distance of all necessary downtown amenities, allows for the residents to have access to everything they may need in the downtown area. St. John House makes sure that its residents are taken care of in many ways, namely, by being staffed 23 hours per day and making sure that none of its residents ever have to be out on the street. The shelter staff are a group of dedicated individuals who all come from different backgrounds and have had different experiences, but who all maintain the best interests of the residents. In addition, the residents have access to laundry and shower facilities, phones, laptops, Wi-Fi, and a donation pool.
All of our shelters, and St. John House is no exception, operate under the trust that our shelter is not simply four walls and a heating system. For our residents, we are their home and a safe place to sort out their challenges during a vulnerable period in their lives.

Fredericton Homeless Shelters
A community organization that works to help individuals experiencing homelessness
Brunswick Home
Brunswick Home is a transitional living space that will accommodate up to 4 people who are current shelter residents. The residents who go into Brunswick Home will be hand-picked by our staff and will be residents who are stable enough to transition into the next phase of their independence. In Brunswick Home four residents will get the shared experiences of having their own room, common areas that they can share with each other, and most of all a space that they can call their own and get to take care of. They will be charged a small service fee every month teaching the importance of personal budgeting but allowing them to save money for their future home and set career and financial goals for themselves while also living in a much more independent environment. Of course, they will still have access to all the resources that the shelters offer including its staff. Each resident who lives in Brunswick Home will be able to live there for up to one year, unless they find other housing or can transition out faster. In that time, they will learn the true independence of living on their own and restore their self-determination and confidence in their own skills and abilities.
